Honorable Linda H. Gathright, President of the Greater Nashua Area NAACP and longtime public servant, previously dedicated over 34 years to contract management at Verizon before serving two terms on the Nashua Board of Aldermen and as State Representative. As president of our Branch, she has championed key initiatives—such as advocating for racial-profiling bans and supporting fentanyl sentencing reform—while tirelessly strengthening community partnerships and empowering local youth and families. In addition, she is now honored to serve the NAACP as the NH Director of the New England Area Conference.

Our Committees
Here in New Hampshire’s Greater Nashua Area Branch of the NAACP, these committees are actively working to make our community a better place. Members are encouraged to contribute wherever their passions and talents would guide them.
- Membership: Works to get new members and send reminders to retain existing ones, and represents the branch in the community (as do all members).
- Finance: Works to track our inflows and outflows of funds, works with our bank account and online, creates the detailed annual financial report required by National.
- Legal Redress: Works on legal matters and complaints that come from the community, e.g. someone emails us with a situation.
- Political Action: Works to follow legislation that has an impact on the BIPOC community. Note that we have several active NH congresspeople and at least one US congressperson (Maggie Goodlander keynoted at the 2025 Freedom Fund dinner event) who do keep us informed.
- Education: Works on scholarships for graduating high school seniors, the Black Baseball Initiative in the Nashua schools, and educational book clubs and field trips for members.
- Environmental & Climate Justice: Works to track local issues of pollution and health to our communities. Related to the Health Committee, which is currently not active for our branch.
- Youth: Works on getting young talent started for the NAACP’s ACT-SO events, and other events and issues of interest to younger generations.
- Communication: Maintains our website, works with our summer interns, and expands into other areas of social media.
- Freedom Fund Committee: Works to create a fantastic annual fundraising dinner, with keynote speakers, awards, fine food, and lots of new donations and memberships.
